Tailpiece drawing for Lawrence, Seven Pillars of Wisdom: 'I hid under some bushes near the well for hours, against the heat, very lazy, pretending to be asleep, the wide silk sleeve of my pillow-arm drawn over my face as veil against the flies' (ch. 52).
